2024 FSAE Car

​Our first EV car designed in just 9 months, (VM24 aka Big Sniff) features 96 18Ah Melasta Pouch cells for a total of 404V, monitored with a custom BMS and encased in a in-house built aluminum accumulator casing. We moved to 10" rims powered by a Turntide AF 125 motor and custom 7075 T6 aluminum driven sprocket/carrier.

  • Single loop using 24V water pumps in series 
  • Designed to keep us cool in the average high temperature of Michigan in June
  • Radiator is mounted overtop of the accumulator so we can implement ducting at a later date
Chassis 
  • 4130 Chromoly steel space frame​

  • Carbon Fiber Composite Nosecone and Body Panels

Brakes
  • Wilwood GP200 Dual Piston Calipers
  • Tilton 78 Series Master Cylinder
  • Custom Normalized 4130 Steel Floating Rotors
Cockpit and Controls
  • Custom molded carbon fiber seat
  • Carbon fiber and honeycomb steering wheel with 3D printed grips
  • Aluminum pedals adjustable for driver height and desired pedal ratio
Electrical 
  • HV to power tractive system with the energy stored in the accumulator 
  • LV to run sensors and driver controls and indicators 
  • Designed in Altium Designer and tested through rapid iterative development
  • Custom designed and in-house assembled PCBs
